The History of the Limousine

History of the limousine

The first limousine was originally an enclosed automobile with open driver’s seats that was named for the region in central France, Limousin, it was a region also known for it's generally dismal weather.  The meaning evolved from a type of cloak and hood that was worn by the inhabitants of the Limousin region that later resembled the covering of a carriage and much later used to describe an automobile body with a permanent top that extended over the open driver's compartment.

The first automobile Limousine was made in 1902 and was designed so the driver sat outside of the carriage and the passenger sat within.  The first stretch limousine (what we today would typically call a limousine) was built in 1928 by a company called Armbruster.  Since that time the stretch limo has evolved tremendously and the endeavor undertaken by Armbruster in 1928 has spawned a multitude of classic and custom limousines.

Today we have limousines of every imaginable sort.  From the gorgeous Excalibur Limousines used primarily in weddings to the ultra sleek brand new Lincoln MKT’s that have become the staple in the corporate world.  Then we have the SUV stretch limousines like the Escalade and the monstrous Hummer H2.  Go beyond that and we enter the world of luxury coaches and party buses, massive conversions that are no less then a mobile nightclub complete with dance floors, strobe lights, cooking facilities, bathrooms and bars.

The limousine was and still remains the peak of transportation luxury.  Weather it’s a corporate function or the wedding of your dreams it would not be complete without a ride one of todays stunning stretch limousines.  Check out All Star's 2013 fleet for all your transportaion needs!

The Long Island Hospitality Ball

Posted On: June 06, 2013

The Long Island Hospitality Ball is a Gala organized by Keith Hart, a cancer survivor and hospitality mainstay, and Daria Carioscia to raise money for The American Cancer Society.  This event is a true show of humanitarianism as hundreds of venues across long island donate their time and services to help the fight against cancer.  In years past donations have raised over $400,000 to help combat this awful disease.  This is an unbelievable achievement for an amazing organization and the most worthy of causes.

This year we honored several special guests, icons in the service and hospitality industry.  These individuals are real heroes in Americas fight against cancer.  Victor and Antony Scotto, professionally known as the "Scotto Brothers", owners of such fine establishments as Chateau Briand and Fox Hollow

Thank you also to several other individuals for their sponsorship and generous donations.  George Voutsinas, owner of Chateau La Mer and the ultimate warm weather venue Pop's Seafood Shack in Island Park, Eddie Maiorino owner of Il Classico restaurant and caterers in Massapequa, , Jim Powers owner of All Star Limousine Worldwide based out of Lindenhurst and Dante A. Ciampaglia the architect responsible for designing many of long islands popular halls and restaurants.

This is the party of the year.  Long island's social elite kicked off the summer at the stunning Crest Hollow Country Club with the third annual Long Island Hospitality Ball. It was an evening of great food great drink, laughter and friends as over 2000 people came out to support the fight against cancer.  All manner of individuals, primarily representing the hospitality and service industry, rubbed shoulders from bartenders and coat-checks to the owners and managers of some of long island's premier establishments.  These are the people that breath life into long island's social scene, and this beautiful place would not be what it is if not for them.

You would have been hard pressed to find a sad face in this crowd.  A plethora of libations, hors d’oeuvres, appetizers and cocktails from some of the finest restaurants in the area were thoroughly enjoyed by all, and when the eating and drinking was done the entertainment began.  Fireworks, live music, magicians and DJ's entertained the decked out crowd all night and when it was time for crest hollow to close its doors those with the where withal took the party to Four in Melville. Once there the celebrants graced the dance floor of this amazing nightclub and wound down the night.

Elegance, class and beauty were the words of the evening.  Nowhere else can you find such gorgeous grounds, incredible food and wonderful people.  Truly a night to be remembered and I am already looking forward to next years Long Island Hospitality Ball.

All Star Limousine Worldwide

All Star Limousine Worldwide was proud to host their team of out of state affiliates this past week.  An elite collection of individuals from London to Los Angeles and everywhere in between came together to discus the idea of excellence.   How can a company offer reliable worldwide service?  How can you ensure that the level or quality of service will be consistent throughout?  Through trust loyalty, and the building of relationships, simple ideas but powerful.

First the relationship needs to be developed.  Clear lines of communication need to be established and constant contact helps, especially at first.  Of course you need to find the right dance partner.  In this industry you cant compare apples to oranges or you will be sure to upset your valuable clientele.  It’s important for the companies to do their homework on one another.

Then the trust comes in.  When you sub out a job to an affiliate you need to trust that they will do the right thing.  Specifically you need to trust that they treat your client like they would their own.  Trust takes time but it develops quickly when a clear level of quality is recognized (this recognition comes during the relationship building process).

Loyalty.  Loyalty can mean so many things but it is certainly a key element in the development of a globally spanning transportation business.  How do I know that when my client lands that you wont try to take them for yourself?  Or if there’s a problem how do I know you will do the right thing by my client or me?  These answers can also fall into the trust category but loyalty is more accurate and loyalty is only developed once trust is established.

What it ultimately all comes down to is quality, quality of service, quality of the company and quality of the individuals in charge of these companies.  I had the extreme pleasure of meeting with a few of these exceptional individuals (and I also have the extreme pleasure of being employed by one) and I can say that the quality of their characters is made immediately apparent.  As you would imagine there is a trickle down effect, these exceptional individuals run their company properly and efficiently and so the quality within them is mirrored by the establishments themselves and then of course in the service provided by these establishments.

We all know that there is a right way to do things and a wrong way to do things.  All individuals assembled are right way people.  With characters and companies of the highest quality.  All of All Star’s Worldwide affiliates offer only excellence, just like All Star does, and that is how we can offer guaranteed flawless service worldwide.

A special thank you again to all of our affiliates, it was a pleasure.
