How To Deal With A Bad Situation

How To Deal With A Bad Situation

Life is filled with ups and downs.  Mountains and valleys I have been told, sometimes things are good and sometimes they are not.  Many will tell you that it is a matter of perspective and that life is exactly what you make it, dividing the populace into pessimists and optimists.  Now while I agree that maintaining a positive outlook is the best offense for any bad situation, inevitably life is going to throw you a curveball.

When the unimaginable happens, or things just don’t go according to plan, there is a right way to handle it and a wrong way.  First what they say is true, stay positive, keeping an optimistic outlook can only help the situation, don’t ignore it or pretend it is something that it is not, but don’t go bury your head in the pillow and act like the world is coming to an end.  Second remain calm and maintain your composure.  Approaching the situation in panic mode will only cloud your judgment and your thoughts, it will make you irrational, and it will impede your ability to properly address the issue.  Thirdly seek help; it never hurts to ask for help especially from friends and family.  If the situation merits, contact a professional, sometimes things are not as bad as they seem and with professional help it may contribute to keeping things in perspective.  Finally, don’t give up, because as soon as you throw in that towel you lose the battle, if something is worth fighting for then fight for it!

Inevitably life will hit you with a less then awesome surprise, somewhere somehow things will go a little wrong.  Remember keep positive, stay calm, consult a professional and don’t give up.   The battle is only over when you say it is, and while these tips wont solve your problems they will help you solve them yourself.

The Importance Of A Reliable Antique Vehicle

The Importance Of A Reliable Antique Vehicle

On your wedding day you want everything to be absolutely perfect, and justifiably so, you have been planning this day for years and spending all types of money so that everything goes off without a hitch.  Transportation on the day of your wedding is not something that should be overlooked.  Many people put off booking their transportation until the very end of the planning process, to some degree this makes sense as the logistics of your day may not be fully fleshed out until you get closer, on the other hand you need to make sure that you get to where you need to be that day on time and without hassle.

Traditionally the your wedding day transportation involves what is known as a lead car, or a vehicle that the bride and her father will take to the ceremony and then the newly weds will take from the ceremony to the reception.  Often times this is an antique vehicle, possibly a Rolls Royce or another type of high-end vintage car. These vehicles can be beautiful and charming and can add a completely different element to your special day.  They can also be dangerous and unreliable and can cause a major issue on your wedding day if the company you are renting it from is not reputable or reliable.

Most of these antiques are at least 50 years old, some are much older, All Star Limousine carries a very rare 1933 Presidential Packard that is over 80 years old.  These vehicles have countless miles on them and, if the company is successful, they are going out often.  What this means is that these vehicles need constant attention and care and if that care is not received then mechanical issues are inevitable.  The engines and electrical systems in these cars absolutely must be redone; this is because they no longer make the original parts for these vehicles and that makes doing preventative maintenance on them impossible.  If you are not doing preventative maintenance on these vehicles then you are doing reactionary maintenance only when problems occur and that is simply not good.

If you want an antique lead car on your wedding day make sure you ask these questions.  Are the engine and electrical systems redone in these vehicles?  Is preventative maintenance performed on them routinely?  What condition are they in?  What happens in the event of a mechanical failure?  Does this vehicle go out more then once in a day?  How long has the company been in business?  Make sure you go and visualy inspect the car, and do not price shop your antique vehicle because this service is a classic example of you get what you pay for.  Ask these questions, gauge the answers given and then go online and read reviews about the company.

Ultimately the addition of an antique lead car on your day can be a magical touch.  Just be careful when making the reservation, do your homework on the company and be smart about it.  Ask the right questions and go and see the vehicle.  Make the right choice when it comes to making a decision about your lead car.

Trust (The Art Of Building A relationship)

Trust (The Art of Building a Relationship)

Trust is a thing not easily gained but it is something very quickly lost.  It takes a lot to build trust in a relationship, and this goes for any relationship, whether it be a romantic relationship a friendship or a business relationship.   In business you can spend years building up a dialogue and rapport with a client, earning their trust and business, going the extra mile to make sure he or she is satisfied, only to lose everything with one wrong move.  Why is this?  Is this fair?

Business relationships are a bit different then friendships or romances but all require the development of trust.  The difference is that in business when that circle of trust becomes broken or violated everything else about the relationship becomes brought into question, and the reality is that usually there are many other places a client can go to purchase his goods or receive that service.   After all, business is business.  Ultimately this means that if you drop the ball as a service provider or manufacture of goods there are scores of competitors waiting to scoop it up, some of which can do it just as good as you and sometimes even better.

So what can we do to stop this from happening?  Are we doomed to be slaves to our clients?  Well in a way yes.  We are obligated to provide the expected service to our clients each and every time we are called upon to do so.  The service should be consistent and it should always at least meet, if not exceed, the client’s expectations.  Over many years of doing business sometimes things happen that impede our ability to perform at optimal efficiency, sometimes these things are out of our control and sometimes you just have a bad day (everyone is entitled to one or two of these).

So what can be done when the inevitable strikes?  One thing is to keep an open and honest dialogue at all times.  Own your failures and mistakes as thoroughly as you do your success.  When something bad happens explain to the client the entire situation.  If you have a good track record with this client, and you are truly doing everything you can to make sure the service is performed according to expectations, when something out of your control takes place explain the situation to your client.  Take the time to educate them about the potential problems that can and may occur in your particular industry.  Most clients will appreciate this as you are showing them they are worth your time and they are worth the explanation, most people will also appreciate the education in a business that they are contracting with.

Finally do the right thing.  Make recompense, refund, offer free service, make your customer happy.  Many times a bond between a client and a company is truly formed when a mistake is made.  This is because it is at that point that the customer sees the company at its worst.  If you can make a customer happy after you fail as a service provider you will more then likely have a customer for life.  At this point the customer has nothing to fear and even if something similar happens in the future it will be ok because they know you will make it right.

Trust is not an easy thing to gain but it is incredibly easy to lose.  Business relationships can be fickle, but if things are handled the correct way the bond between business and customer should only grow stronger as the years go by.  Communicate regularly and openly with your clients, be honest with them and don’t doubt their intellect or their ability to comprehend the services they are receiving.  Finally, do the right thing, if you can satisfy your customer when things go wrong and you can make them walk away happy when you fail, then more then likely you will gain a customer and advocate for life.
