The Importance of Punctuality
We all have that friend that is notoriously late for just about everything. The guy that you tell to meet you at the party a half hour before it starts because you know he’s going to be at least 45 minutes late. For the most part its not that bad, you’ve learned to anticipate this friend and as long as he’s not driving everything is fine. The problem occurs when you are dealing with someone like this who is not your friend, someone that you cant anticipate. If you are someone who has a problem with punctuality I am going to out line 3 situations below that illustrate some severe problems and consequences of tardiness.
If you are late for a job interview you are not going to get that job. I have interviewed a lot of people and I can tell you that I have never hired someone who was late to the interview. The logic is if you can’t be on time when you are supposed to be at your best how can we expect you to be on time on a normal day-to-day basis?
If you are late for a reservation or for an appointment don’t expect someone to hold your spot and be prepared to wait a very long time before you are squeezed in. Time is money and if you are committing to a slot to be the recipient of a service have some consideration for the service provider.
If you are a business or service where timing is a factor or a part of the service you better be on time. In the limousine industry you must be on time, being late makes the people you are driving late and this can be devastating in certain situations. If you are a delivery service and you tell them 30 minutes or less make sure it is 30 minutes or less or don’t expect that customer to call you again.
These are just a few examples of the negative repressions of tardiness. Its not hard people keep an eye on the clock and be considerate of others. Your lackadaisical or nonchalant treatment of the hours in a day can have major consequences for innocent bystanders.
