Macari Uses A More Natural Approach When It Comes To Their Wine-Making

Macari Vineyards, located on the North Fork of Eastern Long Island in Mattituck, is owned and operated by the Macari Family. The business is led by owners Joseph Macari Sr. and his wife, Katherine, and Joseph Macari Jr., who is at the helm of the new winery with his wife, Alexandra. The winery opened Memorial Day weekend, 1998, with wine enthusiasts everywhere having waited nearly three years to sample the newest taste sensation harvested from the delightful corner of Long Island's wine country, nestled among 500 waterfront acres of land. Macari appears to be on the cutting edge of viticulture and is dedicated to a more natural approach to wine-making.

Extensive soil preparation, rich composts, careful cover cropping and a consideration to wildlife and terrain are what makes Macari's 180 planted acres stand out from the rest. And all of these premium efforts ultimately produce premium wines. Although the vineyard takes first priority, Macari's Tasting Room and Winery is open for the public to enjoy. An architectural beauty, the building was designed by Carol DiCicco-Vinci. While visiting the winery's tasting area, take in the spectacular vineyard views from just behind the grand fireplace, off the beautiful stone and timber deck.
