Ask Questions Before You Book Your Wedding Limo

Wedding Limo RentalI can't think of a better place to get married in the tri-state area than on Long Island. The majestic countryside, wineries, and ocean views from The Hampton's can make your wedding day one to remember for a lifetime.

As your special day approaches there are many things that need to be addressed to ensure a stress free wedding day from catering to the photographer and transportation. Since we are not catering experts and don't take very good pictures we will focus on what we do best.  Ground transportation.

We understand that is usually the last item that is crossed off the list when you go through the final once over of your planning book, so we have some tips to ensure you not only select the right Long Island limousine service to meet your needs, but understand how renting a limo or vintage car for a wedding works.

Vehicle Type

This is usually the first place that you will start as you not only want to make a grand entrance to your reception as a newly married couple, but you may even want to have a vintage Packard or Rolls Royce in your pictures. Here are some things to consider and ask your limousine service before signing a contract or making a deposit.

  • How does the hourly billing work? Some companies bill from pick up to drop off and others bill garage to garage depending on where your pick up location and drop off location will be.  Be sure to ask and get how you will be billed in writing.
  • Don't settle for a regular limo if you want something else. A few larger companies like our's have a large fleet of vintage vehicles to choose from like Rolls Royce's and Vintage Packards that make for awesome photos to remember for a lifetime.
  • Don't forget about grandma and grandpa or your guests.  How are your guests getting from the hotel to the ceremony and then to the reception? We have a large fleet of minibuses, limo buses, and motor coaches to accommodate any size group to ensure there are no delays on special guests arriving late.

Contract

Get a written contract for the limousine services that will be provided. If the company you select is not able to or unwilling to email or fax you a contract with ALL of the details including pricing and cancellation policies let this be red flag for you and start looking elsewhere. Most all reputable limousine services will be able to provide this information to you in real-time.

Chauffeur Attire

The last thing you want to have happen on your wedding day is for your chauffeur to arrive at the ceremony in jeans and t-shirt.  Be sure to ask what the attire of your chauffeur will be. Industry standard attire for chauffeurs is a black suite, white shirt, comany tie, and black shoes and socks. You can get a pretty good idea by the quality of the companies website on this one.

Meet and Greet

If you live in the are schedule a meet and greet.  This will allow you to not only see the vehicle you have selected in person, but to see the overall operation and the professionalism within the office environment. If your company wants to meet you at a local Starbucks you may want to keep searching for an alternative option.

Contingency Plan

Mechanical issues happen.  What is the backup plan if this happens during your wedding?  Does the company have another vehicle they can send in the event of a failure?  How many vehicles do they have in their fleet? Will you receieve a refund if this happnens?  There is nothing wrong with selecting a limo service with a small fleet, but what happens if the vehicle breaks down the morning of your wedding day?  This is another reason to do a meet and greet so you can actually see the size of the companies fleet and office.

Take Away

Do your due diligence and don't rely soley on the internet.  Some companies may represent they have vehicles in their fleet they really don't have.  If you have not used a limousine service then most definitely do the meet and greet.  If you are unable to do a meet and greet than ask all of the questions above as well as for a referral or two so you make the right decision and have a great wedding day.
