The Rules of Social Media

I have read countless posts on when to post on Facebook, what time is best or what type of posts will get the most exposure.  There are a myriad of blogs on social media engagement and how to get “likes” or “+1s”.  In reality many of these topics are subjective based on the industry or market you are representing.  We have, however, been able to compile a list of relatively universal “dos” when it come to social media, below are some good practices to implement when managing any social media platform.

-Post often (but don’t too often).  Make sure you are posting regularly and consistently people who follow or like you want to know what’s going on (although if people start to complain tone it down a bit).

-Switch it up, post videos, photos, ask question, quote famous authors keep it interesting.

-Make sure you are sharing what people are reading or what they want to see, this is heavily dependent on your target audience and your field, but know your audience.

-For twitter repeat your tweets, for Google plus link your blogs and for Facebook maximize your engagement.

-Include link backs to the source and give credit where credit its due.

There is no hard set of rules for social media as the digital world is ever evolving, be consistent, be current and be interesting.  Follow some of the advice above and you should achieve a certain level of success.   Track your success, what works for you may not work for the next guy so their exists no universal formula, trial and error is the best course of action and when you find what works stick to it!

A Digital Marketing Strategy

We have all heard that SEO and social media are the big players in the marketing world these days, so for those of us that aren’t super computer savvy the question is; how can we make the best of these unfamiliar mediums?   The world of marketing has come a long way from the days of magazine ads and radio commercials (although there is still a place for these tried and true methods).  Today your search engine ranking is probably what people value the most when analyzing their marketing endeavors.  Social media has gone from non-existent to an absolute must have for businesses and corporations.  Things are changing and they will continue to change, below are some tips to help maximize your marketing strategies.

Update your website as often as possible.  SEO or search engine optimization is no longer some big mystery; the formula is actually pretty simple.  Make sure your text is keyword heavy; three percent seems to be the magic number.  Make sure the keyword or words you are looking to optimize are in the title and the meta-title as well as the URL.  Make sure your content is original and relevant and then that is pretty much it.  It really is that simple.

Social media is another up and coming thing.  Embed links onto your website and stay current with everything.  Try to make posts that entice engagement and spark conversation, get people excited and interested.  Social media is a great medium for advertisement and the new way to get the word out about your company.  You can offer promotions, show new products, create trust, legitimacy and even build relationships.  Social media is not working against the more traditional advertising mediums it is working with them.

Stay current, watch the trends and don’t be afraid to try something new.  SEO and social media are the major players these days but that might not be the case forever, things are constantly changing and the world of marketing is always in a state of flux.  Pay attention to your website it is the easiest window into your business world, keep it updated and relevant.  Social media has become a major player in the world of advertising do not underestimate the importance of having a company page on Linked in and Facebook.  All these things will help contribute to a sound and comprehensive marketing strategy.

SEO for 2014

SEO for 2014

What is Google looking at now?  This is the question for webhosts, SEO companies and business to be asking.  We all know that the algorithms for Google’s web crawlers (as well as Bing, MSN and all the rest) change often and what makes for good SEO today may not be what makes for good SEO tomorrow.  Previously we have touched on the recent Google updates, today we will revisit.  Below you will find what we know for sure (as of this moment) will be good practices for proper search engine optimization.

Make sure your site has an expeditious load time across all platforms.  If you don’t have a mobile website (or even better a responsive website) then you are behind the times.  Most users are accessing the Internet via their mobile devices and if your site is taking too long to load or there are pictures on there that bog down the load time of a particular page these things need to be addressed.

Update your website as often as possible.  Try to at least touch it once a week, change some of the Meta tags or keywords, update pictures, keep it fresh and relevant.   The SEO crawlers set forth by Google are getting smarter and smarter these days and they want to see information that is useful.

Make the content on your site something your users want to share.  Make it easy for someone surfing your site to click a button and post on one of their social media platforms.  Along these lines social media is becoming more and more important, it is not something anyone can afford to overlook if they want to be properly optimized these days.

The same rules we laid out earlier this year still pretty much apply.  Keep it relevant keep it current, the black hat tricks of days past will only impact your search engine ranking negatively.  More and more emphasis is being put on cleaning up spam or useless information on the Internet as no one wants to deal with that.  Googles doing a good job and they expect you to do the same.

Managing Energy

Managing Energy

In the New Year of 2014 the energy of man is something that has been proven and documented by science.  What is universally accepted is that like any form of energy we have an input and an output, the more calories we intake then more physically active we can be.  This is a very basic and primitive explanation but it does adequately describe the first of the four types of energies Tony Schwartz, the author of “Manage your energy, not your time.” talks about in his new book.  The other three types are emotional energy, mental energy and spiritual energy.

The managing of these four distinctly different types of energies is essential to your optimum performance as a human being.  The first and most easily understood is the physical, how healthy you or, or how efficient your biological organism is. This has to do primarily with how fit you are, your diet and the amount of wear and tear you expose your body too.  These four energies are uniquely important but without physical energy your body will not work.

Emotional energy has to do with inherent satisfaction or happiness.   This is one of the two more difficult to measure energies but it has a great impact on our own well-being as well as the well-being of the individuals around us.  Those of us who are happy, optimistic, are talked about as having high energy or are all together positive give off that positively charged energy.  Obviously the happier you are when doing what you are doing the better you will do it.  Slightly less obvious is the theory that the emotional energy you discharge into the environment around you is reflected directly back on to you, in other words think negative thoughts experience negative reactions, think positive and you will see like results, a classic example of the self-fulfilling prophecy.

Mental energy has to do with your ability to focus.  This type of energy is effected significantly by the other three and what is known as your Ultradian rhythm.   Our Ultradian rhythm is cyclical and operates on a 90-minute window, in other words our minds can focus at their fullest potential for only about 90 minutes at a time and then we need to rest.    In todays modern age the ability for one to focus is easily quantifiable.

Finally there is spiritual energy, which is the other type of energy that is difficult to measure.  This fourth form of energy is directly entwined with your emotional energy and has to do with understanding and being satisfied with your over all purpose.  Being comfortable or confidant answering questions like “What is the meaning of it all?” Why am I here?” or “Why am I doing all of this?”

Mastering all of these energies and managing them properly is no easy task.  Many of these types of energy are only starting to be recognized by mainstream science.  The important thing to remember when beginning is that acknowledgment of these energy forms is paramount to mastering them, once understood that they exist then and only then can we hope to optimize and manage them.

The Cost of Flying First Class Vs. Private Aviation

The Cost Of Flying First Class Vs. Private Aviation

Recently there has been an uproar regarding the lack of service offered on commercial airlines.    In the days-of-old first class was akin to flying in your own personal hotel room, today it is quite different.  Business class is even worse everything costs money, in-flight meals have been nearly done away with and you can barley get a bag of complimentary peanuts these days.  There is however a solution, private aviation has recently become much more affordable to the working class individual and offers rates comparable to first class seating on some airlines.

Jumpjet is a new service, the first of its kind, which offers membership fees and very aggressive and affordable rates to frequent flyers.  With several levels of membership ranging from approximately $2,000-$4,000 Jumpjet is versatile, convenient and luxurious.   They even let you bring guest passengers in at a discounted rate on your membership.   Jumpjet even goes so far as to offer its own frequent flyer program allowing the frequent flyer to rack up points and perks.

Jumpjet may be the first of its kind but it certainly wont be the last. The service on most commercial flights is abhorred and is getting progressively worse.  In the near future I believe we will see a transition away from commercial airlines and a shift towards the usage of private aviation.  Private airlines are only getting more affordable as commercial airlines are cutting more and more amenities and charging for things that years ago were completely free.  Soon customers, especially those that fly often, are going to smarten up and explore alternative options.
