The Art Of Execution

Everyone has good ideas, but only a few of us have the ability to execute them.  It is easy to dream but no so easy to do.  This, I believe, is what separates the successful from the mediocre.  We all have dreams, desires, goals and ambitions and most of us (weather we realize it or not) have the ability to manifest these ambitions.  Why then do so few achieve their dreams?

The art of execution is easier then it sounds, but it takes courage and conviction.  The process is not to sit and dwell and plot out every and all eventualities, it is simply to do what must be done.  Most likely you will fail the first time or two, most of the people who have achieved great success failed many times before succeeding, the trick is to get up once you get knocked down.

What happens to many dream chasers along the road to their success is that they get side tracked, life itself often gets in the way.  They feel pressure from without, pressure to conform, pressure to hit those major life milestones, and to succeed in a more conventional way.  Even for these individuals dreams are not lost, it takes fortitude, it takes the belief that it can be done, and it takes courage.

Live outside your comfort zone, don’t just step outside it every once in a while.  Try and fail a thousand times but make sure you get back up.  Believe in your self and in your dreams, your subconscious will eventually find the way for you if you believe enough in what you are trying to achieve.  Don’t just think about it do it.

5 Tips For Engaging With Social Media

5 Tips for Engaging with Social Media

It has been almost 14 years since the dawn of the first social media platform, and we are finally just starting to be able to accurately analyze and find out what works and what doesn’t.  Social media marketing can be a difficult and frustrating endeavor, especially if you are a smaller company, or trying to do it on the side, or on your own.  How to get followers, how to obtain likes, what can we do to get in front of more people and how can we get others to engage are all questions commonly asked by fledgling social media users.  Below are four tips that users (especially beginners) will find useful for optimizing social media for your business.

1) We have all hear the phrase “content is king”.  This has to do with picture and video uploads, people enjoy visuals and most algorithms used by platforms like Facebook and twitter know this.  So if an effort to make their platforms more favored most platforms prioritize posts with images or videos.

2) Ask questions or conduct surveys.  Getting people to engage on social media is important and it is hard.  Be interesting, don’t just endlessly spam commercial like content designed to advertise your brand or company.

3) Use coupons in your Facebook posts.  If you are going to post advertisements via social media a good method for getting people to click on them is giving them an obvious reason.  Statistics show that nearly 42% of users like companies so that they will receive discounts or coupons.

4) Keep your tweets even shorter then 140 characters.  Twitter is one of the most fickle of social media platforms and studies show that its users want posts that are direct and to the point.   Even though you are allowed 140 characters keep it below 100.  Another interesting twitter fact is that misusing hash tags can be detrimental to engagement, so its better to not use hash tags if you are not sure if they are being used correctly.

5) Engagement is key.  Attempt to get friends and followers talking about your page or posts, and once they do respond back to them.  If another business comments on something on your page reciprocate and comment on something you see on theirs.

Myo Unveiled

Myo Unveiled

Technology is being brought to the commercial market at an incredible pace these days, and it seems as if each new invention becomes more and more unbelievable.  Most recently is Myo the gesture control armband from Thalmic Labs.  This is another wearable device that allows the user to control electronics by simply using hand and arm gestures.  With over 40,000 pre-orders the product has grown and advanced far beyond the initially offered prototype, and looks like it will rank up there right along with the other big names in biotech hardware.

The past few years have seen some amazing advancements in technology.   Hardware like the Oculus Rift and Google Glass have changed the gaming industry, and have made that long sought after dream of virtual reality attainable.  Even more recently we have seen Marriott Hotel’s Teleporter, a device that puts the user in a simulation that manifest a paradise vacation local without any actual travel.  The Teleporter uses more then just visuals; it gives the user the total experience by making use of the most cutting edge of 4-D technology.  Now we have Myo, an armband that allows the user to manipulate computers and smart technology via hand motions and muscles in the users forearm.  The device is not overly complex to master and it only requires the memorization of a handful of gestures. This innovation can do everything from turn the TV off and on, to shooting a simulated gun in your favorite video game.

The effect to someone who grew up in the era of blockbuster video and VHS tapes seems almost surreal.  We are advancing so rapidly and so exponentially its like living in a science fiction novel.   It will really be only a very short time before virtual reality becomes a viable alternate reality.
