Patience Is A Virtue


 

 

Patience is a virtue, or at least it used to be.  Today things happen fast, so fast in fact that most companies come out with the next generation of cell phone or tablet before half of their consumer base has even upgraded to the pervious incarnation.  Customers expect this.  It is what they want and what they need.   We live in a world where everything not only has to happen instantaneously but multiple things need to be happening immediately and all at the same time.  It s a world where if you cant keep up you are left behind.  There does exist a time where patience must be exercised, as always when things are rushed they do not always end up as good as when the right amount of time is spent on them.

 

Sometimes the best things really do come to those that wait.  Having the newest technology first isn’t always a good thing.  Often the bugs and kinks in the tech aren’t fully worked out yet.  Sometimes they won’t be until the next version comes out.  Anything good is worth waiting for if for no other reason then you took the time to investigate all the other alternatives before you made your decision.  Just because one thing is right for someone else does not mean it is right for you.  In todays world of online reviews and consumerism everyone is an authority, but the fact undoubtedly remains that only you can decide what is best for you, take the time to make the right choice.

 

Things happen quickly nowadays and often there are many things all happening at the same time.  Just because we can satisfy many needs and wants instantly does not mean we should do so.  An informed decision is exactly that, and to be informed often means gaining experience or at least doing the research.  Despite the fact that many people want everything immediately it does not mean that the best thing is to rush to give it to them, take the time to do things right.

Gratitude


 

 

Gratitude is one of the most underrated feelings we express as human beings.  So often we are told to be positive, or to be active, or to be happy but very rarely are we told to be grateful.  In reality we should always be grateful.  Every moment of all of our lives we should be grateful for a multitude of things, simply living certainly not being the least of which.

 

Many of us spend our days and years constantly trying to get more or do better.  The reality is that we would be much happier if we were simply able to be happy with what we have.  Society shows us that we should never be content, that we should constantly be seeking to better our selves and our positions.   While there is nothing wrong with achieving goals and chasing dreams it is important to enjoy our journey.  We must remember to embrace and appreciate the moment and to not constantly look towards the future or dwell in the past.

 

So this holiday season try not to be too focused on what’s going to be under the tree, instead look around you at everything and everyone you already have and be grateful.  Live fully in every moment and your life will be filled with only happiness.

How To Sell In 2015 


In today’s market the average consumer is becoming more and more informed, today everyone is an expert on everything.  The question is, as a professional, how do you get your point across or truly inform a potential customer without sounding like you are trying to sell them something.  Most customers these days have a good idea of what they are looking for long before they even walk in the store.   These customers bolt for the door at the first sign of a sales pitch.  Why is this?  How can we impart product knowledge without sending our customers running?

 

Well, as we said, with the advancements that have been made in communications technology everyone is an authority.  So many people read a few articles on the internet write a review and deem themselves an authority.  While it is truly great that everyone has unlimited access to an near infinite amount of information reading about a product or service is different then actually working with it, using it, or experiencing it.  It becomes difficult, especially when dealing with equipment or services involving technical knowledge, to explain to a customer the difference between your services and someone else’s when it took you six years of education just to begin to understand the nature of your job.  The frustration becomes compounded when that person has been doing his homework and assumes he knows what you’re talking about, so then that the moment you attempt to explain some of the positives that your product has to offer his brain immediately shuts off.

 

The days of the pushy aggressive sales person are over.  No longer will those scare tactics, upselling and bait and switch tactics be effective, now the best way to convey information is to have a conversation.  Present everything to your potential client, pros and cons; tell them what they want to hear and what they don’t want to hear.  People these days like to be informed, they like to know, so if you offer to them a wealth of information they will appreciate it.   Ultimately it is a good thing because a good product will sell itself and the days of ripping people off and selling snake oil will come quickly to an end. 

 

In todays world information is readily available to everyone.  Everyone is an authority and the traditional idea of selling turns off a great many potential buyers.  What we can do is stop selling and start informing.  Convey the information about your product or service in a way where your goal is to educate the client not make the sale.
