What is a Modern Wedding?

A modern wedding is chic, stylish and often implements the latest technologies in an effort to create a new spin on traditional ideas.  There are plenty of modern ideas available to bring your wedding up to date and fun using technology, ideas from Pinterest and other social media platforms, and a myriad of tips an tricks from some of the industries most cutting edge vendors and service providers.

How to kick off my Modern Wedding

A modern wedding should start off with transportation; Party buses are a big hit when it comes to transporting your bridal party to and from the ceremony and the reception. The Party bus is a great way to relax and take some time to clear your mind before you have to get on the clock.  It gives you the opportunity to spend time with your friends and family, laughing and having a good time before the nerves of your big day start to set in. With a larger bridal party sometimes a bus is the only way to go.  Some people however don’t like the look of buses in their wedding photos, no problem, stretched SUV’s can seat anywhere from 14-18 passengers, more than enough for the average bridal party.

Photography

Living in this day and age we are lucky to have so many cool gizmos and gadgets at our fingertips, most photographers have the ability to take the art of photography to the next level and to do things that were not even being thought of 10 years ago. The advent of the drone makes taking cinema quality aerial photos of the wedding possible and can paint your wedding day in an entirely different perspective. Certain photo editing techniques can be done after the wedding day to create quirky and fun imagery.  Examples such as the Star Wars themed picture of the bride and groom or photo shopping a giant dinosaur in the background with the bridal party running and screaming in fear.   For a studio that is always on the edge check out Silver Fox Videography.

Modern Venues

Many modern day wedding trends involve themes such as "A Day at the Beach", or "A Winter Wonderland". Themes are a great way to stay cost effective and still have a cool and cohesive look. If you are doing a beach theme instead of having flowers as a centerpiece, try decorating the tables with shells and vases filled with sand and tall beach grass. Some of the more popular modern venues in the Long Island area are The Crescent Beach Club, The Harbor Club at Prime, and the Inn at New Hyde Park.

Executive Chauffeured Services

Posted On: March 22, 2016

Most of us can drive a car, and so when we think of a professional driver, or a chauffeur, we may think well anyone can do that.  This could not be further from the truth a real chauffeur does far more then just drive a vehicle.  A cab driver picks people up and drops them off, an executive chauffeur creates an experience.  The chauffeurs at All Star Limousine fall into two distinct categories, with only the very best able to transition between the two.  We have out executive chauffeurs, the men and women who transport our corporate cliental, and our celebratory chauffeurs the ladies and gentlemen that accommodate you and yours on your wedding day.

What really is the difference?  Well again these individuals are doing so much more then just picking you up and taking you to your destination.  On the Corporate side punctuality and an intimate knowledge of the areas you are serving are an absolute necessity.   Knowledge of the corporation and the account that you are servicing is also a must.  Then you have the details some VIPs want certain beverages or amenities in their vehicles.  Some VIPs like to talk to their drivers, some do not.  Some have preferred routes or vehicle types and it is all up to our executive chauffeurs to make sure that they are getting exactly what they want.

The chauffeurs who drive the vehicles in our celebratory fleet are some very special ladies and gentlemen.  After all they are at your side during some of the biggest moments of your life.  For weddings they will coordinate with all the other vendors present and create and maintain a schedule.  They will help stage the procession at the church, lay down the isle runner and act as ushers.  They will fluff the gown and help with the boutonnieres and pocket squares.  They will transport the flowers and any other arrangement from church to reception.  And all of that is just the start.  These drivers are trained to understand their passengers, to know if they need more or less, to know if they want to be engaged or not and to be able to facilitate and execute any and all levels of service.  They are the icing on the cake on your wedding day that extra and unexpected detail that turns a great experience into and unforgettable one.

There is a drastic difference between a driver and a professional chauffeur.  Most of us can drive a car but very few of us could operate on the level of a professional chauffeur. The attention to detail, the level of service and the professionalism of a real chauffeur is something really very special.  The vehicle will be beautiful, it will be on time, it will be what you expected, and the individuals behind the wheel will take your experience to the next level, orchestrating an event that will live on in your memories forever.

The Best Honeymoon Locations For 2015

The honeymoon could arguably be the best part about getting married.   It is the first vacation that the couple takes as man and wife, and it usually gives the newly weds the first opportunity to relax after several months of planning and preparing for a wedding.  A vacation just about anywhere is good but below are five places that many consider the best.

1)  Bora Bora, French Polynesia: is a fantasy brought to life.  With post card quality beaches and waters, it was recently voted one of the best islands in the world by US News and World Report.

2)  Bali, Indonesia:  Bali is nicknamed the “Isle of the Gods” for good reason.  Gorgeous mountain views and ancient architecture dominate the breathtaking landscape.

3)  Paris, France:  Paris has been the city of romance for decades and still remains one of the most traveled to locations in the world.

4)  Venice, Italy:  Another location that has been in the top spot for honeymooners for decades.  A city like no other paved with canals and traversed via gondolas, there is nothing more romantic then an evening Gondola ride down the Grand Canal.  To visit Venice is a completely unique experience.

5)  Harbor Island, Bahamas:   Last on our list is another stunning tropical island and another locale that’s has remained one of the most desirable vacation spots for decades.  Pink sand beaches and turquoise waters, so beautiful they have inspired songs, ring this timeless paradise.

Wedding Traditions

We have all heard of them and probably have a decent idea about a few of them but what are the real wedding traditions?   Things have changed significantly since the first marriage, the ceremony of matrimony dates back to ancient times all the way back to the Celtics and the Greeks.  The modern incarnation of the wedding began to manifest fully somewhere around the middle of the 1400’s.  Again much has changed since this time.  Many things have effected these changes, chief amongst them technology, practicality and the advances made in communication and transportation.

Originally marriage was more about protection, procreation and religious beliefs then it was about love.  The reasons, ceremonies and traditions of marriage vary greatly across cultures and time but one thing remains a constant, it is the bond (usually and originally) for life between two individuals formed before the eyes of their loved ones and God (Gods).  For us westerners some of the traditions we may be familiar with include; the bride wearing white (to symbolize purity), the groom proposing with a ring (a tradition first established in 1477 when Mary of Burgundy was presented a diamond by the Archduke Maximilian of Austria), and the saying something old something new, something borrowed and something blue (stems from an Old English rhyme having to do with good luck) and these are just a few.

Today we like to believe that marriage has to do primarily with love as opposed to practicality.  Many of the traditions we know are still honored, some have changed and some have been forgotten over time.  The bride usually still wears white, vows are usually still recited and the tradition of proposing with a ring is one that seems to be a main stay in western society.   Remember though traditions are a guideline, they are not the rule, make sure you are doing what you want and what will make you happy, it is after all your day.

Whatever you believe or wherever you are from most of us adhere to some form of custom or tradition.  Things change however and what may have been done in the generation of our grandparents may not be what is done today.  Remember your marriage is about you, do what makes you and your significant other happy, traditions may come and go but your marriage should be forever.
